WEEK 1 SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

                                                                                              JUNE 16-19

 

Boys Flag Football  Grades K-3 (9:00-11:30am)

 

Flag football camp will be a fun camp that will expose your child to the fundamentals of football. How to throw a football, how to catch a football, how to kick a football etc. Former and current Lansing Catholic football players will run the camp every day. Skill work, small games and regular flag games will take place each day. Players should bring their own water bottle to camp each day. The will be water available for refills. Each camper will receive a t-shirt on the last day of camp.

 



Co-ed Tennis  Grades K-4 (9:00-11:30am)

This camp is for the beginning tennis player and starts with how to hold a racket and moves on from that point.  Hitting the ball, both forehand and backhand will be introduced as well as serving. Games will be played each day to keep the learning fun.  Campers should bring a water bottle to camp.

 

Jimmy Joyce, the girl's varsity tennis coach at Lansing Catholic, will run this camp.

 

 

Co-ed Tennis  Grades 5-8 (5:00-8:00pm)

This camp will teach beginning skills to those who are just beginning their tennis career and will teach more advanced skills and strategies to those who are ready. With eight courts we have the room to group our campers by skill level.  The concentration will focus on improving the backhand, forehand and serve of all participants. Campers should bring a water bottle to camp.

Girls Basketball  Grades 7-8 (9:00-11:30am)

The Lansing Catholic's Basketball Camps are designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball. Instruction by the Lasnign Catholic's basketball staff and varsity players will include the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, screening and defending. There is a strong focus on the instruction of all facets of the game. Players will also compete in 1 on 1, 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 throughout the week-long camp.

 

Girls Basketball  Grades 5-6 (3:00-5:30pm)

The Lansing Catholic's Basketball Camps are designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball. Instruction by the Lasnign Catholic's basketball staff and varsity players will include the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, screening and defending. Co-ed Science  Grades 5-8 (Noon-2:30pm)

The Co-ed Science camp concentrates on four main areas: chemical reactions, harnessing wind power, building structures and interacting with nature. Some days the camp is held in the science classrooms and some days outside. All activities are "hands on" giving each camper a chance to participate in every activity!

 

Co-ed Soccer  Grades K-4 (Noon-2:30pm)

This will be a fun based camp where campers will play lots games in order to learn the skill of handling a soccer ball and other parts of the game of soccer.  This camp is about becoming comfortable with a soccer ball at the feet, than teaching strategies of the game.  Campers should bring a water bottle to camp.

Girls Volleyball Grades 5-8 (Noon-2:30pm)

The Lansing Catholic's Girls’ Volleyball Camps will emphasize individual skill work and team work. Each camp offers a different level of skill and competition. Campers will be grouped by skill level to maximize individual development.

 

Gymnastics for Cheer  Grades 2-8 (3:00-5:00pm)

Come and learn gymnastics and tumbling skills specifically designed to prepare your young cheerleader.  Camp participants will learn stretches, proper technique and drills for rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, walkovers, back handsprings, tucks and tumbling passes.  A portion of camp will be spent teaching a cheer with tumbling skills incorporated into it.  Hands on spotting and workshops will be taught by area tumbling instructors as well as, members of the Lansing Catholic High School cheer team and coaches.  This camp is open to anyone interested in cheerleading or gymnastics.  Participants should wear comfortable workout clothing and tennis shoes.  Camp will take place indoors on a matted floor.  

 

 

Boys Lacrosse  Grades 9-12 (5:30-8:00pm)

The Lansing Catholic's Boys’ Lacrosse Camp is designed to teach the fundamental skills and tactics of lacrosse. Each camper will receive individual and team-oriented instruction. All players will be coached by Lansing Catholic's Boys’ Lacrosse coaching staff as well as team players. Campers need to bring a stick, gloves, armpads, shoulder pads, helmet, mouth guard, and a water bottle.
